cross_stitch_look.zip #
zipped .py file and 2 png files (unzip, put .py file in GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder. png files can go anywhere)
(12.14 KiB) Downloaded 251 times
cross_stitch_look (2).zip #
zipped .py file and 2 png files (unzip, put .py file in GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder. png files can go anywhere)
(12.23 KiB) Downloaded 185 times
cross_stitch_look (3).zip #
version 3 (Selection invert bug fix)
(12.28 KiB) Downloaded 190 times
cross_stitch_look (4).zip #
version 4 (Better contrast, so doesn't look dim)
(12.36 KiB) Downloaded 227 times
cross_stitch_look (5).zip #
version 5 (doesn't interfere with Cross Stitch ... script)
(12.36 KiB) Downloaded 366 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 6. Delta E method (superior to other matching methods)
(31.85 KiB) Downloaded 132 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 6 (UTF-8 encoding) so that it would work on windows.
(31.84 KiB) Downloaded 123 times
cross_stitch_look_tt-and-resource-files(7).zip #
version 7. Super realistic version and resource/texture files
(20.88 KiB) Downloaded 121 times
cross_stitch_look_tt-and-resource-files(8).zip #
version 8. Added lighten only legacy layer so that pure black isn't pure black (because pure black looks odd, unrealistic).
(20.99 KiB) Downloaded 126 times
cross_stitch_look_tt-and-resource-files(9).zip #
version 9. Added darken only legacy layer so that light colors don't look like aida is showing through and turned of the other darken only layer (even more realistic for lighter colors now).
(21.06 KiB) Downloaded 124 times
cross_stitch_look_tt-and-resource-files(10).zip #
version 10. Better looking contrast and brightness for aida cloth
(21.09 KiB) Downloaded 115 times
cross_stitch_look_tt-and-resource-files(11).zip #
version 11. Added interpolation option for scaling (as sometimes "None" looks better than "Cubic" depending on image/taste).
(21.2 KiB) Downloaded 173 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 12. Added Option to YES/NO to blending. Blending uses average colors of combination of 2 thread colors. Slower but could in theory by law of averages produce better matching colors.
(34.48 KiB) Downloaded 60 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 13. Limit blending to close colors produces far superior/convincing resulting colors and draw actual stitches of blended colors as a square with 2 triangles (half square each) to show actual DMC thead colors
(37.39 KiB) Downloaded 61 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 14. Added "Third Blend" option which uses 3 strands (1 strand of 1 color and 2 strands of another color).
(40.75 KiB) Downloaded 59 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 15. Set lighten only layer to 2.6 Opacity instead of 15 as 15 is too light and takes away colors from the actual Stitch color.
(40.82 KiB) Downloaded 63 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 16. Added 35 New DMC colors (DMC 1-35)
(42.2 KiB) Downloaded 62 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 17. Added 4th Blend (4 strands of 2-color combinations).
(45.93 KiB) Downloaded 65 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 18. Added 5th Blend and 6th Blend for 5-strand and 6-strand blending.
(54.61 KiB) Downloaded 93 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 19. Fix bug found when trying to do 50/50 blend. Now color mode is more accurate RGB mode and not indexed which produced bug when drawing blends.
(55.42 KiB) Downloaded 36 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 20. Super nice blend 50/50 effect now...fine lines alternating between two colors that to create blend.
(56.1 KiB) Downloaded 39 times
cross_stitch_look_tt.py #
version 21. Use old color select method to be consistent with generate cs pattern plug-in
(56.22 KiB) Downloaded 41 times
Script menu location: Python-Fu/Cross Stitch Look...
Download
aida3.zip #
aida3.png and stitched3.png (I think these might look better)
(11.43 KiB) Downloaded 412 times
Instructions:
1) Have an opened image with active layer
2) Run script.
3) Select number of colors and other settings.
4) Select/browse to the aida.png file
5) Select/browse to the stitched.png file
6) Click OK to run script
7) Script will generate a new image using aida.png and stitched.png to create cross-stitched look effect.

Thank you Ella,
I would like to thank Pat625 for suggesting/requesting this script.

PS: Just added version 2 of script, i personally think version 2 looks a little more realistic with black holes on the stitched parts rather than pure color
